Metaphor

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
the mind is
lightning quick.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
love is
volcanic ash.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
earth is
a circle of birth.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
time is
a servant of death.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
beauty is a
draught to be drunk.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
the body is
a sponge of desire.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
these verses are
flowers to be plucked.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
you are
a golden gift.

Come, Baby

Come baby and let us make love,
passion flies like the holy dove;
come baby and survey the scene
of beauty streaming so serene.

Come baby and let us dance slow,
time’s cold fist cannot land a blow;
come baby and regard my eyes,
pools of light netting a surprise.

Come baby and let us speak soft
words kneading fears in the mind’s loft;
come baby and let us hold hands,
steadfast mast on life’s fragile sands.

Face

Words hold me in their thrall

a charm that cannot pall,

what lives is love and grace

wisdom etched on your face.

I write from distant lands

dreaming fluttering hands,

while you feast from life’s plate

my soul shall not abate.

These lines reveal a song

that cancel every wrong,

how dear you are to me

I spell so you can see.

Moments

Take a moment,

any moment

and consider

its fleeting

breath.

Only once can it exist –

not before or after,

just now does

this instant persist.

We ignore them

at our peril;

moments are our lives

strung out like pearls,

gleaming in

the sunshine.

Beauty resides

on the wings of

imagination,

seconds stretch

in time’s bowl.

Feast on them,

while you can.
