Scraps

Even in those moments
That drift aimlessly,
Tattered scraps
Snagged by the wind,
A halo shimmers
In the eye’s corner,
Flooding the shadows
Without a care.

Love is stubborn,
Finds a way of coming,
And this is grace
Given wings that sing,
Mending time’s  tapestry;
If only to taste
Before all goes to waste.

Falling

Your luminous smile
The turquoise sea.
Your courteous touch
The summer breeze.

Your steadfast light
The golden trees.
Your naked laugh
The autumn fruit.

Your cat-like poise
The snow-capped peaks.
Your flighty thoughts
The winter warmth.

Your emerald kiss
The giving earth.
Your twinkling eyes
The mirth of spring.

Like The Morning Sun

Like the morning sun
You blazed on my life,
Welcome and kind,
A buoyant surprise.

Like the gentle wind
You scattered sorrow,
A whirling presence
Kissed by the mist.

Like afternoon tea
You soothed troubles,
Spelling laughter
With bright-eyed brio.

Like the tender moon
You touched my soul,
Tying those threads
Refreshed and whole.

Distance

How far away from one another
Are two souls torn by land and sea.
In the thick of night coiled in fetid heat
One body clings on to scraps of hope
Drifting in and out of merciless dreams,
Seeking a burning star bridging empty space.
