About

Hello. Welcome to my blog. My interests are various and include, in no particular order: life, love, books, nature, new places, friendship, walking, water, peace, laughter, hats and the rather vexatious issue of how best to use the letters “Q” and “Z” in scrabble.

It must be said that this blog makes no pretence to harbour anything of significance. However, I hope that it might charm, delight and surprise in equal measure.

Second, being of a poetical and philosophical bent, the blog may at times wander down curious byways, with no seeming purpose. So what. Surely pointlessness is a virtue to be cherished.

Third – truth,beauty,humour,free-thinkingness and compassion are qualities which I like. I hope these pop up like beacons of joy, lighting up paths that are otherwise murky and overgrown.

Fourth, go forth and be flamboyant.

Fifth, although pointlessness is delicious, “follow the natural curve which flows on, pointless” (D.H.Lawrence), there is a point to everything.

Sixth, life is beautiful. As is humility. As is watching the sunrise from the top of a mountain. As is devouring a slice of soft, creamy cheese. Can’t help but conclude that Rumi was right when he said, “Beauty surrounds us”.

Finally, I hope you enjoy this medley of personal impressions, poetical vignettes and philosophical explorations.

The only means of strengthening one’s intellect is to make up one’s mind about nothing – to let the mind be a thoroughfare for all thoughts.” (John Keats)
