Shall We?

Shall we love each other as long as we live?
Shall we repent and always forgive?
Shall we laugh and cry as minutes fly?
Shall we never say goodbye?
Shall we look into one another’s eyes?
Shall we hug the daily surprise?
Shall we speak words soft and sweet?
Shall we welcome the sacred treat?
Shall we meditate upon all the beauty?
Shall we hold the flame with duty?
Shall we kiss away the sorrows?
Shall we travel all the morrows?
Shall we sit in the morning sun?
Shall we seize and keep it fun?
Shall we praise what’s to come?
Shall we listen to the calming hum?
Shall we chime in the rhyming hours?
Shall we sing as fondness flowers?
Shall we drink from the cup of mirth?
Shall we give joy on this earth?
Shall we reside in desire?
Shall we build a lasting fire?

Finally

My love will come and hold me
without questions or doubt, tenderly.
She will soothe and speak freely
beyond the reef of greed in a clement sea
where wine and flowers swim peacefully.
My love will withstand iniquity
and rise above time’s piercing plea
and travel on the plane of liberty.
She will spring with abundant glee,
my love, and undress with wild esprit.

Evermore

Awash in the morning tide,
So swift the hours they glide;
Watching life deep at play,
Your voice sweetens every day.

Abroad in the midday sun,
Wonders waiting to be won;
Hearts opened by desire,
Why quench this thirsting fire?

At rest in the moonlit bed,
Memories blaze, whetted, wed;
The give and take by firelight,
Your smile cries through the night.

Summer Night

All is quiet, embalmed
in a roaring peace.
My heart jumping
at the glint of touch.
The stars throb
unceasingly,
dreams flow and glow.

We Have To Live

We have to live

In this darkened world.

We have to live

In this lightened world.

Despite the horror and the lies

The torture and the murder

We have to live

In this darkened world.

Despite the hatred and the bile

The evil and the rage

We have to live

In this lightened world.

Despite the angst and the vengeance

The fury and the bloodlust

We have to live

In this darkened world.

Despite the hubris and the bluster

The othering and the smothering

We have to live

In this lightened world.

Despite the bigotry and the vitriol

The crowing and the ignorance

We have to live

In this darkened world.

Despite the gore and the slaughter

The rottenness and the stench

We have to live

In this lightened world.

Despite the vileness and the vanity

The twisting and the spinning

We have to live

In this darkened world.

We have to love

We have to listen

We have to give

We have to live

We have to dream

Unknot our troubles

Spill hot tears

Dispel cold fears.

We have to see

We have to hear

We have to touch

We have to taste

We have to feel

Discover the flow

Unroll our hands

Make love below.

We have to live

Nourish the beauty

Cradle the surprise

Travel through sex

We have to reach

And be together

And see the light

In this wounded world.

We have to live

We have to live

We have to live

In this lightened world.

Essence

You are the sea breeze,
Refreshing, at ease.

You are fragrant peace
Affection unleashed.

You are the sunrise,
Golden, bright-eyed.

You are the sunset,
A nook, a book, blessed.

You are the peak
Crested in colour.

You are the vista,
An unclouded picture.

You are the unsaid,
Mysteries to be read.

You are mud and river,
A taker, a giver.

You are fire and air,
Here, there, everywhere.

Won’t You?

Won’t you hold my
hand a little while
in this sea of plenty?

Won’t you stroke my
heart with gentleness
and watch the flowers bloom?

Won’t you walk with
me without chains or ropes
and kiss the world awake?

Won’t you cradle my
head and glimpse the sun
woo the morning dew?

Won’t you feast on liberty
and let your senses
swell in gaiety?

Won’t you lose yourself
in the wholesome flow,
bathed in wonderment?

Won’t you be a star
near and afar
on this burnished path?

Won’t you?
