A Conversation

“Watch me”, she said.
“I never do anything else”, he said.
“Take note”, she said.
“It’s all written down”, he said.
“Really?” she said.
“Yes, everything. Even now as I bow”, he said.
“Give me a line”, she said.
“The more it waits”, he said.
“Is that it?” she said.
“No, there’s more”, he said.
“Surprise me”, she said.
“The better it glows”, he said.
“That’s poetry”, she said.
“Yes, that’s true”, he said.
“Why are you bowing?” she said
“I worship you”, he said.
“Never stop”, she said.
“I won’t!” he said.

Did I Ever Tell

Did I ever tell
how you hit
the spot?
Did I ever tell
you are all
I’m not?

Did I ever tell
the way you
held my gaze?
Did I ever tell
you fill
the empty days?

Did I ever tell
about the spark
you bring?
Did I ever tell
you soothe
every sting?

Did I ever tell
you are kinder
than light?
Did I ever tell
you come
every night?

Did I ever tell
you danced
like the rain?
Did I ever tell
you took me
from the plain?

Did I ever tell
you enlarged
this heart?
Did I ever tell
words are
just the start?

Did I ever tell
how love
conquers time?
Did I ever tell
………?
No, I don’t think
I did.
You complete
this rhyme.

Come, Baby

Come baby and let us make love,
passion flies like the holy dove;
come baby and survey the scene
of beauty streaming so serene.

Come baby and let us dance slow,
time’s cold fist cannot land a blow;
come baby and regard my eyes,
pools of light netting a surprise.

Come baby and let us speak soft
words kneading fears in the mind’s loft;
come baby and let us hold hands,
steadfast mast on life’s fragile sands.
