Isn’t…

Isn’t life beautiful when we stand back and reflect upon the beauty of it all? Isn’t life brimming with possibility when we throw away our fears? Isn’t life magical when we realise the blessings we have? Isn’t life exquisite when we raise a cup to the wonder of now? Isn’t life majestic when we dance alone or with friends? Isn’t life resplendent when we drink in the view from the top of a mountain? Isn’t life sublime when we create splendour out of chaos? Isn’t life swell when we give with unfettered joy? Isn’t life grand when we take the hand of someone we love and look at the innumerable stars? Isn’t life great? Isn’t life sweet? Isn’t life beautiful?

Nourished

Season to season

The hungry soul fed by

Naked blessings.

If I Could #2

If I could leap miles and miles
    Whisper sweet nothings
In your ear
           I would.

If I could pluck stars
     From the sky, scatter
Then upon your bed
            I would.

If I could stitch these
      Words in a luminous
Shawl, untorn
            I would.

If I could barrel
       My kisses
Roll them to you
            I would.

If I could persuade
        The flamingoes
To dance unabashed
             I would.

If I could discard
         These longings
On the altar of touch
             I would.

If I could stand
          Proud and unbowed
The earth would thrill
             Afresh, it would.

If I could cherish thee
           As Spring
Serenades the trees
              I would.

If I could spell a charm
           That carried
You there to here
               I would.

If I could tell you
            The ways
You flit and flare
               I would.

If I could take your hand
            And float in a bubble
Of love, life would be grand
                It would.

Elemental

Slowly, slowly, in tune with
Rhythm of wind, step,
Birdsong, we reach the crest.

The mists disperse.
Rimmed in sunlight,
You laugh raven-like;
Hungry eyes, hair unbound,
Creature of earth and sky.

In an instant the dam bursts,
Slaking our thirst
On the beckoning grass.
Hands softened by longing –
Free, free, free.

Where I Go

A place I go to
Every year
Ablaze and humming
Season to season
A riot of serenity.

Just thinking
About it
Stirs the heart
Fires the bones
Cleanses the mind.

What better place
For being
For drinking
For watching
For kissing
For loving?

There is no
Traffic of clutter
Here – rather
The hushed calm
Of earth’s pleasing
Charms.

A place I want
To show you.
A place awash
In ardent colour.

We all need these places
We all need these places.

All My Thoughts

All my thoughts they swim towards thee
In a stream that blends you and I.
Over mountains, rocks, sand and scree,
All my thoughts they swim towards thee.
When I find myself steeped in tea
Or above earth flying so high,
All my thoughts they swim towards thee
In a stream that blends you and I.

Gust

Carried by the wind,

Rising and rising
This hot love,
Exploding into
A million pinpricks,
A riot of light.

Old notions vanish,
Confetti in the breeze
Drifting beyond reason;
While life bursts
With colour,
Multicolored tapestry
Caressed by gentleness.

All we have is now.
Embrace wonder,
Basket of gifts:
A beaker of joy
A shot of hope
A gust of mirth.
This – Glorious earth.
