We Only Have The One Life #2

We only have the one life,
Why the fever and the fret?
When our duty is to love
And kiss before sorrows set.

We only have the one life
To touch and explore and dream;
Body revealed, mind-lamps lit,
Tanned in the unceasing gleam.

We only have the one life
To get naked in the sun,
Shorn of gaudy dress,
Hardened shells undone.

We only have the one life
To breathe and think and fuck;
Goodness within our grasp,
Riches won, wonderstruck.

We only have the one life,
So no need to drown and frown;
Joy is there to be savoured,
If wanting looks up not down.

Years Have Passed

On the highway of life,
Years have passed.

Our bodies don’t lie,
Tangled in pleasure.

A hunger enthused,
What can you see?

The terror of the ache,
Sighs itching to break.

Questions

Will you come dance with me?
Will you embrace this jamboree?
Will you revel in wholesome fun?
Will you dance beneath the sun?
Will you dress in dark leather?
Will you be light as a feather?
Will you leap on a mountain?
Will you flow like a fountain?
Will you tear off your mask?
Will you ride through the dark?
Will you tremble into this?
Will you give a fragrant kiss?
Will you?

Contact

The loving, the holding, the giving

The ambling, the travelling, the living.
The touching, the pausing, the musing
The kissing, the playing, the fusing.
The laughing, the crying, the healing
The dancing,  the hoping, the feeling.

Stepping into June’s Light

Stepping into June’s light
Unweighted by regret
You appear like an angel
Smiling on every tree
Laughing on every shore
Dancing on every peak
Gliding through the luminous air
Tracing a spell everywhere.

Stepping into June’s light
Spying summer’s abundance
I sing a song to magic
Rinsing out the stale
Soaking up the hale
Bring in the splendour
Cast out the terror.

Stepping into June’s light
Wedded by a marriage of joy
Overcoming
The dead and the tragic
The lost and the unkempt
The forlorn and the torn
Whoever can’t touch this wonder
Come hug under love’s thunder.

Lines On A Bench

It is so easy
To while away
An hour or two,
And consider
The horrors
Of being
Productive.

But what
Is more thrilling
Or
Richly enchanting
Than musing upon
This great miracle
That daily
Assaults us?

Chores clamour
And claw
Our hungry selves
– ravenous fiends –
Setting aside time
Is a way
To keep lean.

Engaged in the act,
Laughter echoing
Across the park.
The tenderness
Of love,
Stilling the dark.

Scraps

Even in those moments
That drift aimlessly,
Tattered scraps
Snagged by the wind,
A halo shimmers
In the eye’s corner,
Flooding the shadows
Without a care.

Love is stubborn,
Finds a way of coming,
And this is grace
Given wings that sing,
Mending time’s  tapestry;
If only to taste
Before all goes to waste.
