We Never

We never did do this –
Kiss in the rain,
Laugh unshackled
Of shadows
And so much else.
All flimsy illusions
Tossed in stormy torpor.

“No way out”, you said.
Bloodied in despair,
My head bowed, undead.

The door is always open,
Ready for real loving.

I Raise A Glass

I raise a glass
To the setting sun,
Sunk in splendour.
Thankful for loving,
No curtain of tears
Can truly conceal.

Easy it is to feel
That what’s to come
Will give birth
To something purer,
A revelation of sorts.

We Only Have The One Life

We only have the one life,
Why the fever and the fret?
When our duty is to love
And kiss before sorrows set.

We only have the one life
To touch and explore and dream;
Body revealed, mind-lamps lit,
Tanned in the unceasing gleam.

We only have the one life,
So no need to drown and frown;
Joy is there to be savoured
If wanting looks up not down.

L’amour

Love is the only thing one should live for.
Love is the only thing one should consider.
Love is the pill that soothes ancient sorrows.
Love is a wave that carries us to new worlds.
Love is warmth for the jaded soul.
Love is a cloak to be worn in all seasons.
Love is light,  illuminating the darkness.
Love is touch, linking heart to heart.
Love is an ocean, wherein happiness may flow.
Love is the sun, the moon, the wind, the stars.
Love is a force composed of parts.

A Touch of Grace

If touch can be shown
Through the medium of words,
Then you have touched
Me a thousand times.
And while the moon shines
On a still Spring night,
This touching of minds
Is a river of light.

A Flaneur’s Manifesto

Just walking, with no definite plan

free and easy on the pulsing streets,

not hurrying or burdened by feats;

Drinking deep and absorbing the sights

that peal from old buildings and new heights;

Suddenly the world is tinged with rhyme

as if undressed for the first time.

Just walking, with no definite plan

flowing current you can channel;

Letting the feet think, wonders travel

from toe to toe, nerve to nerve, cell to cell,

therapy that soothes with a kindly spell

of marvels, life and great vitality,

wind in the bones and the feeling to be.

Just walking with no definite plan

is a kind of magic that grows and grows

if we live long – to walk is to know,

in tune with the world’s songs, open gate

gleaning impressions while we create;

Flaneur, walker, dreamer, dancer, lover –

wayfaring is the way to uncover.
