Wouldn’t it…?

Wouldn’t it be lovely if we lived by bridges instead of walls? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we acted out of love instead of hate? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we didn’t discriminate in any shape or form? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we saw the good instead of the bad? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we spoke tenderly and not callously? Wouldn’t it be lovely if peace rather than rage was the answer? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could rise and rise and not despise? Wouldn’t it be lovely to forgive and rest? Wouldn’t it be lovely to picture the best? Wouldn’t it be lovely to live in bliss? Wouldn’t it be lovely to seize the thread? Wouldn’t it be lovely to stay undead? Wouldn’t it?

Questions

Will you come dance with me?
Will you embrace this jamboree?
Will you revel in wholesome fun?
Will you dance beneath the sun?
Will you dress in dark leather?
Will you be light as a feather?
Will you leap on a mountain?
Will you flow like a fountain?
Will you tear off your mask?
Will you ride through the dark?
Will you tremble into this?
Will you give a fragrant kiss?
Will you?

Madness

Am I mad to imagine

That one day

Peace will fall?

Am I mad to wish

That one day

Contentment will reign?

Am I mad to hope

That one day

The mind won’t fret?

Am I mad to dream

That one day

Fears shall fly?

Am I mad to laugh

At the weirdness

Of it all?

Am I mad to love

With tireless

Desire?

Am I mad?

Alive I am.

Toast

I drink to the power of peace

I drink to the wonder of life

I drink to the beauty of you

I drink to the ending of strife.

I drink to the easing of fears

I drink to the laughter of love

I drink to the joy of touch

I drink to the delight above.

I drink to the magic of days

I drink to the dreamscapes at night

I drink to the gifts man may share

I drink to the comfort of light.

I drink to the kindness of words

I drink to the kissing of minds

I drink to the dancing inside

I drink to serenity that binds.

Eyes

“Stars, stars! And all eyes else dead coals.” (The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare)

There are stars swimming in your eyes,

A pooled lantern that never dies;

Spreading a warmth on the soil

Of life, the dust always loyal.

Yet the need for colour lives on,

For too soon days fade and are gone;

I pluck the hairs that hide the pulse

In search of love to bridge the gulf.

And while earth unfurls her beauty

In all seasons where we drink tea,

I stay smitten, ardent lover,

Stellar-stunned as you uncover.
