That Day

That day we talked and laughed
and felt as humans do, the magic alive, a glorious afternoon on a street
filled with gladness where voices wed
in unison and the gods dealt liberally with brightness and brio, memories sprung in the August sun, spun afresh on the altar of affection. My words tumbling like confetti onto your beckoning palms. Sliding into night,
aromas danced in a wholesome blend and I knelt in awe at your poise and unchained elegance. Promises linger
in the meeting of tongues, the sky ablaze with whispering fragments, wounds rendered whole, the welcoming arms, a holy melt.

Shall We?

Shall we love each other as long as we live?
Shall we repent and always forgive?
Shall we laugh and cry as minutes fly?
Shall we never say goodbye?
Shall we look into one another’s eyes?
Shall we hug the daily surprise?
Shall we speak words soft and sweet?
Shall we welcome the sacred treat?
Shall we meditate upon all the beauty?
Shall we hold the flame with duty?
Shall we kiss away the sorrows?
Shall we travel all the morrows?
Shall we sit in the morning sun?
Shall we seize and keep it fun?
Shall we praise what’s to come?
Shall we listen to the calming hum?
Shall we chime in the rhyming hours?
Shall we sing as fondness flowers?
Shall we drink from the cup of mirth?
Shall we give joy on this earth?
Shall we reside in desire?
Shall we build a lasting fire?

Won’t You?

Won’t you hold my
hand a little while
in this sea of plenty?

Won’t you stroke my
heart with gentleness
and watch the flowers bloom?

Won’t you walk with
me without chains or ropes
and kiss the world awake?

Won’t you cradle my
head and glimpse the sun
woo the morning dew?

Won’t you feast on liberty
and let your senses
swell in gaiety?

Won’t you lose yourself
in the wholesome flow,
bathed in wonderment?

Won’t you be a star
near and afar
on this burnished path?

Won’t you?

Morning

Like the mist clearing on a summer morn,
You wend your way, silky-smooth, newly-born,
The dew shimmering above the thorn
And all is ablaze.

Like the world waking up in a hum of sound,
Your voice vibrates across the sun-drenched ground,
Terror’s chains broken, forever unbound
And here I stand, amazed.

Living

Desire for life
Is a wave
That ebbs and flows
On the shoreline
Of our searching minds.

Desire for sex
Is the rain
That floods and runs
On the map
Of our pulsing days.

Desire for peace
Is a wind
That gleams and streams
On the hills
Of our risen needs.

Desire for love
Is a sun
That flares and bursts
On the banks
Of our fragile hearts.

Desire for life
Desire for sex
Desire for peace
Desire for love

Reside in desire.

Two

Two hands
Two hearts
Two minds
Two silences
Two bodies
Two laughters
Two souls
Two passions
Two visions.

The tracks
Of all the earth
For living.

Two spirits
Two travellers
Together.

Wouldn’t it…?

Wouldn’t it be lovely if we lived by bridges instead of walls? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we acted out of love instead of hate? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we didn’t discriminate in any shape or form? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we saw the good instead of the bad? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we spoke tenderly and not callously? Wouldn’t it be lovely if peace rather than rage was the answer? Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could rise and rise and not despise? Wouldn’t it be lovely to forgive and rest? Wouldn’t it be lovely to picture the best? Wouldn’t it be lovely to live in bliss? Wouldn’t it be lovely to seize the thread? Wouldn’t it be lovely to stay undead? Wouldn’t it?
