Even Though

Even though
              I haven’t
Seen you
              For what feels
Like an age
              All my thoughts
They fly
               Like dancing stars
In a burning rage.

Even though
                Distance cleaves
In fiendish fright
                I often dream
Of simply being
                The two of us
Walking earthstruck
                Threaded by
Sunlight.

Even though
                 Years have passed
Swallowed in reverie
                  A vision hums
Wedded to brightness
                  Blessed
                                Blessed
                                            Blessed
Drunk in lovers’ light.

Lily of the Valley

I bought you some flowers
Once,  to welcome in the Spring
A March celebration
Fresh love singing
Across continents.

How soon their glory
Faded, stripped and shorn
Of wild imaginings.
Words soon soured
Mingled with grief and sorrow.

Lying between your thighs
The sun failed to rise
On our poisoned lives
Yet the sweetness we shared

Remains clear as a stream
Burnished in the stunted
Rays of the winter sun.

This desire suppressed
By a terse affair
Steeped in joyless pain.

The lily shall rise
Again,  pulsing
With a bright promise
Richer and rarer.

Unmixed with confusion –
A glorious scent
Lasting through the seasons.

Aroma

The silent hours

Love comes
Tumbling in
I stay transfixed
By the scent
That throbs within.

Vignette

Two spirits, snapped in time.
Laughter flowing; currents alive.
Souls rhyming with sweet accord.
Sorrows unlived, joy to be caught.
Always joy to be caught.

Two bodies breathing fire;
Leaning together,
Drawn by a hungry force.
Awakened to gratitude,
The flush of hopefulness.

Two minds in unison,
Discoursing with wild abandon.
Hours unable to wither
This picture of contentment;
A canvas of light.

River

Laughter, talk, a golden summer.
Enraptured in a radiant moment.
Sweet innocence captured in time,
The print of our days waiting to be inked.
A line invisible and intimate,
With sudden delight fate blooms again.
Tugging heartstrings, love ties the thread,
Blending the present to an unwritten future.
Hunger throbs on the enduring path.

Snapshot

We haven’t seen one another
For an age, swept along
By life’s ceaseless currents.

But like the eternal sun
Your presence blazes,
And I stay grateful

For having held your hand
Once upon a time.

Years Later

I remember it well,
A bright summer in Poland,
The scent of wildflowers,
Lakes glinting in the sun

And your smile, oh your smile
Flashing all the while.

Years later, penning these words,
Every fibre of my body
Alert to love’s vibrant pulse.
