Lines On A Bench

It is so easy
To while away
An hour or two,
And consider
The horrors
Of being
Productive.

But what
Is more thrilling
Or
Richly enchanting
Than musing upon
This great miracle
That daily
Assaults us?

Chores clamour
And claw
Our hungry selves
– ravenous fiends –
Setting aside time
Is a way
To keep lean.

Engaged in the act,
Laughter echoing
Across the park.
The tenderness
Of love,
Stilling the dark.

Reflection

I looked into your eyes
And saw desire unfurl;
If you looked into mine
You would see hope uncurl.

I looked into your soul
And saw the open sea;
If you looked into mine
You would see liberty.

I looked into your mind
And saw passion unveil;
If you looked into mine
Wild wonder would prevail.

Metaphor

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
the mind is
lightning quick.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
love is
volcanic ash.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
earth is
a circle of birth.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
time is
a servant of death.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
beauty is a
draught to be drunk.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
the body is
a sponge of desire.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
these verses are
flowers to be plucked.

To see the world
as metaphor
is to say
you are
a golden gift.
