Where I Go

A place I go to
Every year
Ablaze and humming
Season to season
A riot of serenity.

Just thinking
About it
Stirs the heart
Fires the bones
Cleanses the mind.

What better place
For being
For drinking
For watching
For kissing
For loving?

There is no
Traffic of clutter
Here – rather
The hushed calm
Of earth’s pleasing
Charms.

A place I want
To show you.
A place awash
In ardent colour.

We all need these places
We all need these places.

Valentine

Happy valentine’s
All you lovers and ravers
Saints and sinners
Dancers and chancers
Seekers and suckers
Possessed and dispossessed
Pristine and threadbare
Sane and insane
Tangled in the mundane
Lifted to a lighted plane.

Happy valentine’s
Love-blessed
Sun-kissed
Moonstruck
Earthbound
Run aground
Spring flecked.
Happy valentine’s
Lovelorn
Lovetorn
Love-worn
Safe as snails
In the grassy bourne.

Happy valentine’s
Bleed the “cri de coeur”
Bridging the blur
A thread of love
Unwinding desire.
Happy valentine’s
Time eats everything up
Get it while you live
Hug it in springtime
In summertime
And every other time
On hot nights
On cold nights
Feel it
See it
Hold it
Inhale
Fragrance unbound.

Confession

You are my lodestar
On dark nights, on bright nights.

You are my solace
In autumn and in winter.

You are my surprise
In spring and in summer.

You are my wonder
Blazing through the fog.

You are my beacon
Serenading the storm.

You are my hope,
A sky of marvels.

You are my treasure
Richer than gold.

You are my branch
Upon which I dance.

You are my water,
A sacred spring.

You are my life
Wherein I flow.

You are my morning,
A map unfurled.

You are my evening,
Starlit, the world.

You are my present,
A promise unwrapped.

You are my future,
Unclose your hand.

Nurture

Beauty falls

Resurrected by

The hand of love

Undone

Our lives passed

Ever so briefly,

Two ships

Sailing in the night,

Where the hours

Felt like minutes,

The weeks like days.
Now as the sun wanes

At summer’s end,

Seasons fold

Into each other,

The cycle

Sings anew.

Gather while you can.
What remains

Of this love?

A handful of ashes

A cup of tears

Ready to be sowed,

For hope to rise

Again.

Nature’s bowl brimming
Abundant riches to taste
Endless giving

Falling

Your luminous smile
The turquoise sea.
Your courteous touch
The summer breeze.

Your steadfast light
The golden trees.
Your naked laugh
The autumn fruit.

Your cat-like poise
The snow-capped peaks.
Your flighty thoughts
The winter warmth.

Your emerald kiss
The giving earth.
Your twinkling eyes
The mirth of spring.
